We are completely opposed to the present capitalist society where a tiny minority enriches itself by exploiting the immense majority of the population. The planet has never produced so much wealth in its history yet misery and inequality has never been so great Entire populations are dying of hunger while we are producing 120% of the world’s alimentary requirements. In France, there are more empty apartments than there are homeless people. Today there is more than enough produced to satisfy human needs and yet we are still faced with unemployment and job insecurity. The race for profits is leading to ecological disasters which threaten the very survival of humanity.
We support the fight against racism and all kinds of oppression.
These forms of oppression are institutionalised by the state, whether in the form of detention centres for asylum-seekers, rounding up of immigrants by the Minister for National Identity, or countless other forms of oppression. The state thus takes up the ideas and the political agenda of far-right and fascist political groups. Capitalism has always needed scapegoats to divide workers. Today the anti-Muslim card is being played, disguised as a pseudo-secularism and the so-called clash of civilisations. Sexism, homophobia and gender-based oppression remain potent weapons in the hands of the capitalist class.
We are Internationalists.
The workers have no country. We fight against imperialism, the pillage of Iraq by the United States, France’s robbery of her former colonies. We give unconditional support to all the people who have joined the resistance in Palestine, in Lebanon, in Iraq, Kurdistan, Chechnya and elsewhere. Every defeat of imperialism is a victory for the workers.
We are engaged in the struggles of the working class.
In every strike movement we are for the maximum unity possible, while insisting on the necessity of fighting against the government which takes its orders from the bosses’ organisation, the MEDEF. We have participated in the struggles for the defence of retirement benefits, for the defence of public sector employment, against the CPE which sought to create a specific employment contract for the young, and against the LRU, which enacted the privatization of the universities. We recognise the importance of raising political demands in the different struggles because this is the only way forward.
We are for the emergence of a unitary force on the left.
This is becoming more and more crucial. The different groupings on the anti liberal and anti capitalist left must find a way to unite in order to give political expression to the different struggles that are happening at present. This is necessary in order to present a credible alternative to the socialist party, which offers no perspective other than to manage the cutbacks and job losses rather than leaving it to the Right. In this context we argue that the different social conflicts must be transformed into political conflicts in order to shake the capitalist class and the government.
We are for a socialist revolution
This is vital in order to do away with capitalism. Social change cannot come about through the existing institutions of capitalist society. The workers, who are the source of all wealth, must take power, in order to abolish the private ownership of the means of production and put in place a planned economy in order to meet the needs of all members of society. Socialism cannot be maintained in any one country and the Stalinist countries were socialist in name only, being in fact state capitalist regimes.
Building a revolutionary party
A democratically centralised party is necessary for the success of a workers’ revolution. Spontaneous uprising alone is not enough to seriously threaten capitalism. Confronted by a well-organised and well-armed bosses’ class, the workers need to have an organisation that is disciplined and well-organised in order to resist andto overthrow the existing capitalist setup.
